Joseph Walter Toney

Memorial services were held on June 11, 2026, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel, Prentiss, for Joseph Walter Toney, 63, of Silver Creek, who passed away on June 4 at Wesley Merit Health Medical Center, Hattiesburg. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He is the son of the late A.B. and Mary Magaline Watts Toney. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Silver Creek.

Mr. Toney was employed with the Jefferson Davis County School District and worked at the middle school. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, joking, friends, and was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Toney, of Silver Creek; stepsons, Corey Longino, of Prentiss; Ashley Holmes, of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Amanda Toney, of Oakvale; stepdaughters, Joyce Toney, of Columbia; Lawoynda Holmes, of Gulfport; two grandchildren; brothers, Robert Toney, of California; Lavern Toney, of Gulfport; sisters, Mildred Joseph and Marie Toney, both of New Orleans, La.; Earnestine Toney, of Texas; Evelyn Seamore, of Nevada; and many other relatives and friends.
