Movie scene filmed Saturday at county courthouse

SATURDAY, one of the first sunny ones in a long time in Monticello, local citizens gathered to serve as extras in the filming of a scene from Texas Red a new film directed by Travis Mills, who also directed the locally made Blood Country. Texas Red is based on the true story of an African-American outlaw who was hunted by hundreds of men from Meadville to Natchez and beyond in the winter of 1940. The film follows this outlaw’s journey and the lawmen who chased him. It features Grammy-nominated Cedric Burnside in the lead role and a cast of talent from all around the Southeast.
