Larry Dale Carney

Larry Dale Carney, “Lassie,” went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2024. If you googled “Tough” in the Urban Dictionary, you’d find a picture of Lassie. He was a stubborn, determined man who always enjoyed life to his fullest. He loved sitting on his porch, enjoying the time spent with friends and family talking about old times and making new memories. As a carpenter, he spent his life building and piddling, always having a project to work on. He spent hours in his free time listening to music. Some of his favorite artists were Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, and George Jones “Who’s gonna fill their shoes.”

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday April 27, with memorial services at 2 at Tilton Church in Jayess.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Marie Carney Griffith; and brothers, Michael Andrew Cox and Gary Ugene Cox.

He is survived by his daughter, Carla Lynn Carney Shumaker (Jason); and grandsons, A.J. Russell and Jace Shumaker; and sister, Sandra Lynn Cox Ferguson (Ray).

He was loved by many, including his extended daughters, Krystal Alexander and children, Kaitlin Hughes, Abbie Hughes, and Alex Hughes, and Danielle White and children, Jaslyn White, Maddie White, and Karter White, and many, many other friends and family.

“He will be missed by all, especially on Sundays.”
