Mattene Walker

Funeral services were held on Dec. 13, 2025, at Oak Grove M.B. Church, New Hebron, fo. Mattene Walker, 84, of New Hebron, who passed away o, Dec. 1 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson. Rev. Ronnie Walker officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She is the daughter of the late George and Minnie McSwain Walker. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Monticello.

Ms. Walker was a retired quality control inspector in the sewing industry. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and preserving fruits and vegetables.

She is survived by sons, Thomas J. Walker, of Prentiss; James H. Dacus, of Puyallup, Wash.; Alvin D. Dacus, of Prentiss; daughters, Gloria Smith, of Jackson; Cheryl Dacus, of Prentiss; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, George Jr. Walker, of Jackson; sister, Marjorie Norwood, of Mendenhall; and many other relatives and friends.
