James William Lowe

Funeral services were held on Nov. 15, 2025, at St. James M. B. Church, Oakvale, for James William Lowe, 82, of Silver Creek, who passed away on Nov. 2 at Merit Health Wesley, Hattiesburg. Rev. Alexander Norwood officiated, with interment following at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Jayess. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He is the son of the late Johnnie Quincy and Irma J. Lowe. He was a member of Full Gospel Church of God in Christ, Jayess. He was a retired steel mill laborer who enjoyed life and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by companion and friend, Katherine Jackson, of Silver Creek; sons, Willie Lowe, of Hamilton; Dirk Lowe, of Phoenix, Ariz.; James Lowe, of Houston, Texas; Jerry Wells, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; daughter, Teresa Lowe, of Lansing, Ill.; nephews he raised as sons, Joseph and Tristan Williams, of Silver Creek; stepdaughters, Michelle Ellis, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Traneshia McLaurin, of Gulfport; Nikita Jackson-Slater and Shakiria Smith, both of Silver Creek; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gwen Wills and Linda Lowe-Brown, both of San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Bobby Lowe, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; Kenneth Lowe, of Tucson, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.
