Jeannette Williamson Hammond
Jeannette Williamson Hammond passed away on July 28, 2024, at the BeeHive Homes of Brookhaven. She was born on Oct. 6, 1939, to James Woodrow and Letha Lois Williamson in Monticello.
Jeannette was a mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and educator. She married the late Douglas “Tiny” Hammond, and they were married for 42 years. Jeannette was a devoted educator. She began her career in Tylertown High School in 1961 and retired in 2001. Throughout her 40-year career, she was known amongst students to be a hard but fair teacher. She never hesitated to challenge students to meet their full potential in a loving way. Not only did she impact the lives of her students, but she also inspired members of her own family and others to embark on a career in education. The impact she had on students and family alike can truly never be measured nor forgotten.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas “Tiny” Hammond, and her parents, James Woodrow and Letha Lois Williamson.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Hammond, Missy McHenry (Jerry), and Beth Martin (Nicky); grandchildren, Christopher Coon, Jamie Milner (Justin), Ashton Coon (Lane Bankston-fiancé), Ben Martin (Bailee), and Dan Martin; two great-grandchildren, Charlee and Cooper Milner; sisters, Shelby Jean Boutwell and Nancy McReynolds; and an array of nieces and nephews.
