Darlie Joyce King

Darlie Joyce King, 88, of Monticello, passed away on March 1, 2024, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. Darlie was born April 11, 1935, in Tylertown to Lewis Jackson and Wadie Day Rowell.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m., Tuesday March 5, at Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, with funeral services following at 11 at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Graveside services will follow at Forest Grove Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery in Jayess. Bro. David Williams will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Darlie loved her Lord first and foremost, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Her family was second in line for her love and attention. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She began enjoying this hobby at the age of six. She was an avid family game player.

Darlie is survived by her sons, Bobby and David King (Laura); daughter, Barbara Whitten (Gregory); 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Terry Rowell (Brenda); and a host of extended family and friends.

Darlie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W.T. King; her son, Jerry King; her daughter, Wanda Carney; her sisters, Jackie O’quin and Sylvia Rankin; and brother, Mitchell Rowell.
