Jerrie Barnes

Funeral services were held Feb. 7, 2024, at Lucas Church of Christ Holiness USA, Prentiss, for Jerrie Barnes, 73, who passed away Jan. 30 at Asbury Hospice House, Hattiesburg. Elder Rufus Fields officiated, with interment following in Lucas Cemetery, Prentiss. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He is the son of the late Elijah Sr. and Jennie Barnes. He was a member of Lucas Church of Christ Holiness USA, Prentiss. He served as an usher, chairman of the Trustee Board, choir and kitchen committee. He served in the U.S. Army and the Mississippi Air National Guard.

Mr. Barnes was a retired millwright who loved show trucks, old school automobiles, horses, bulldogs, welding, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Barnes, of Silver Creek; sons, Jerrie T. (Sharron) Barnes and William Eric (LaDonna) Barnes, both of Silver Creek; daughter, Natasha (Charles), of Greenville; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brothers, Elijah (Mary) Barnes Jr., Larry Barnes, and Charles (Cynthia) Barnes, all of Silver Creek; sisters, Lula (Mannie) Grinstead, Edna Madison, Sarah Gholar, and Sylvia (Elijah) Rogers, all of Silver Creek; Estella Stringer, of Gulfport; and many other relatives and friends.
