Frances Elmeze Russell Loper

Frances Elmeze Russell Loper, 90, of Monticello, passed away Sept. 18, 2023, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello. A celebration of life service was held Sept. 20 at Wilson Funeral Home, with interment at Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arvis Coleman, Doug Koonce, Aaron Smith, Chase Smith, Dalton Russell, Wyatt Russell, Earl D. (Russ) Russell Jr.

Frances was born March 8, 1933, in Lawrence County to Earl V. Russell and Emma Wilson Russell. She enjoyed going to singings and was always ready for a trip to New York City or the mountains with her sister, Juanita, and special nieces, Earline and Debbie.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

Those left to carry on her legacy are her daughter, Wanda Loper; her sons, David and Dale Loper; her sister-in-law, Patsy Russell; her special sister, Juanita Russell King; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Edward Loper; her sons, Jimmy Loper and Carol Loper; her sister, Earline Russell; and her brother, Earl D. Russell Sr.
