Artic “CJ” Charles Bennett

Funeral services were held April 4, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Sontag, for Artic “CJ” Charles Bennett, 85, who passed away March 29 at Lawrence County Nursing Center, Monticello. Elder Clinton J. Lewis officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bennett was the son of the late Ira and Lear Bennett. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. He drove trucks, operated dozers, and worked in the logging industry. He loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by a brother, Clarence Bennett; sisters, Eula V. Hilliard, Jesse Mae Bennett; daughters, Shelia Michelle Bennett, Nadine Kennedy, Cynthia Bennett, Lovie Mae (Richard) Brown, Evelyn (Cal) Holloway, Ikie Holloway, Sheila (Edward Jr.) Walls; sons, Sergeant Jevarius Jevonte Bennett (grandson he raised), Lawrence (Bobby) Madison, A.D. (Sandra) Madison, Bobby (Renae) May; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
