Harlon Ward

Harlon Ward, 94, of Silver Creek, passed away July 15, 2022, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello. He was born June 12, 1928, in Bassfield to John App and Geneva Dixon Ward.
A funeral service was held July 18 at Hepzibah Baptist Church in Silver Creek. Graveside service was held at Arm Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Ward was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany at the conclusion of World War II. He retired from the oil field, where he was employed by Rowan Drilling Company for 30 years. He also worked as a farmer and logger; he loved the outdoors, and he loved people.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Ward Robbins, of Monticello; John William Ward (Cecile), of Silver Creek; and Beverly Kaye Ward Sanders (Monty), also of Silver Creek; as well as five grandchildren, Warren Lee Robbins (Michelle), Robert Seth Sanders (Lacey), Wesley Taylor Sanders (Regan), Robert William Ward, and Kathryn Claire Ward; great-grandchildren, App, Rhys, Lane, Millie, and Grayson Sanders, Whitney Worley (Charles), and Brandon Paille (Alexis); one great-great-grandchild, Jasper Worley. He also leaves behind one sister, Jewell Ward Nelson; a host of extended family and friends; and beloved pet, Lucy.
Mr. Harlon was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mamie Letchworth Ward. He was also predeceased by his parents; five brothers, Hilton, Herman, Hurston, Kenneth, and Kyle Ward; and one sister, Carlene Ward Brooks.
