Edna Thornhill

Edna Thornhill, 83, of Monticello, passed away July 3, 2022, at her home. She was born Nov. 25, 1938, to Walter and Janie Lambert McNease.
A funeral service was held July 6 at Powells Grove Pentecostal Church in Jayess, with graveside following in the Powells Grove Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
She lived and worked in Monticello, where she was known and loved by many as “Mrs. Edna.” She was a long-time employee of Carterwood. She owned her own business – Whispering Pines Florist – and also worked at Fannie’s Flowers and retired as an employee of the Lawrence County Tax Assessor’s Office. Mrs. Edna was a Christian and a faithful member of Powells Grove Pentecostal Church, where she served as Ladies’ Auxiliary leader. She loved all of her friends and family, but her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her children, Garry Thornhill (Karole), of Brookhaven; and Belinda Thornhill, of Jayess; her grandchildren, Dana Stone (Jason), of Brookhaven; Megan Thornhill, of Brookhaven; and Carlie Davis (Caleb), of Monticello; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Caleb Hux, and Aubrey Davis. She is also survived by her extended family and a host of friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Delma Thornhill. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Christine McNease, Myrtle Barnett, Jeanette Swartz, and David McNease.
