Donald Kenneth Walker

Donald Kenneth Walker was born Dec. 5, 1940, the son of the late Paul Jack Walker and Mattie Bass Walker, of Monticello.
He is survived by his widow, Anna Sills Walker; one daughter, Christy W. Echert (Heath); and one granddaughter, Emmy Echert, of Daphne, Ala. Also surviving Mr. Walker are his cousins, Tommy Bass, Dr. Billy B. Thames, and Pat Thames Douglas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Walker was predeceased by two sisters, Billie Merle W. Lambert and Betty W. Harvey; and two brothers, Rudolph C. Walker and Warren Marcel Walker.
Mr. Walker attended Monticello High School, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, and Mississippi College. He developed and worked with equipment and plastics and founded Warrior Equipment, Walker Sales Company, and Walker Scrap Plastic Sales. He worked with and was involved for over 20 years with Oak Forest Exchange Club, Jackson.
Mr. Walker was a member of Monticello Baptist Church for 40 years and prior thereto was a member of Parkway Baptist Church for over 25 years.
Don was always interested in sports, participated in all types of games, and excelled in all sports. Even though he was informed by physicians that he would probably never walk again after a bout with rheumatic fever, he lettered in all sports at Monticello High School, set a multitude of school records, and attended college with a full scholarship in sports.
A funeral service was held Jan. 12 at Monticello Baptist Church, with interment following in Monticello Baptist Church Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
