Shirley Jean Anderson

Graveside services were held Dec. 18, 2020, at New Life Fellowship Baptist Church, Monticello, for Shirley Jean Anderson, 66, who died Dec. 11 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg. Rev. Amos Bridges, pastor, officiated, with Johnson Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Mrs. Anderson was born to the late Rufus and Essie Rene Starks in Monticello. She was the fourth child of seven children. She attended McCullough High School, graduating in 1972. She moved to California after high school. She later returned to Mississippi, making Monticello her home. She was a member of New Life Fellowship Baptist Church.
Mrs. Anderson, also known as “Bo,” worked many jobs, including Hughes Aircraft in California, Kellwood, Duncan’s Corner and Chevron, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department in Monticello.
She is survived by a daughter, Tanisha R. Robinson; three grandchildren, TySohaun Robinson, DaeVyon, and TaReeah Walker, all of Monticello; four siblings, Diane (Jim) Hill, of Gardena, Calif.; Donnie Porter, of Mobile, Ala.; Stanley (Shirley) Starks, of Monticello; Wayne (Deborah) Starks, of Silver Creek; brother-in-law, Amos Bridges, of Monticello; aunt, Elizabeth Stewart, of Walker, La.; and many other relatives and friends.
