Gregory Olensa Hampton

Funeral services were held June 28, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Gregory Olensa Hampton, 47, who died June 24, in Marion County. Rev. Rickie Buckley officiated with interment following in the New Jerusalem Church Cemetery, Oakvale. Johnson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Mr. Hampton was born to Edward and Rosa Hampton in Monticello. He was known as Greg and attended school in the Lawrence County School District. He participated in Special Olympics as a teenager and won a gold medal for skiing. He was a member of New Birth Fellowship Church in Columbia, where he helped maintain the lawn.
He is survived by his mother and father, Rosa Hampton, of Oakvale, and Edward Hampton, of Jayess; daughter, Fantasia Hampton, of Jackson; three sisters, Rose Hybl, of Chicago, Ill.; Sherri Pittman, of Oakvale; and Vergenella Foster, of Birmingham, Ala.; special friend, Debra Johnson, of Columbia; and many other relatives and friends.
