Eleanor Virginia “Ginger” Brown Korioth

Eleanor Virginia “Ginger” Brown Korioth, 83, passed away at Plano Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Texas, Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Virginia was born December 26, 1935, to Phil and Maggie Lee Holmes Brown of New Hebron. After graduating from New Hebron High School, she moved to Port Neches, Texas.
For more than 30 years, she lived in and outside of Burleson, Texas, getting her Master’s degree in Education from Texas Women’s University, while working and rearing her daughter. Her impact on her students, their families and her co-workers continues to this day, and will live on.
Her only grandchild, Sam, was born in 1992, and Virginia retired from teaching in 1998 to pick up Sam from school when he started first grade. She moved to Dallas to be close to her grandson and family, where she made many friends through involvement in the church, working out at the gym and traveling around the world. She had her church friends, her traveling friends and her gym “buddies”.
Ginger lived life to the fullest and was the shining light and life force for all that had the pleasure and good fortune to know her. She was fun loving and made people laugh and happy to be around her. Her giving spirit and grace will be remembered forever.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Vonnie and Randy Howard of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Sam Howard of Boone, North Carolina; nieces, Marsha Brown Mallette (James) of Braxton, Pam Brown Lingle (Mark) of Mandeville, Louisiana, and Marlene Brown of Dallas, Georgia; daughter’s stepsister, Cyndi Patton of Port Neches, Texas, and many dear friends. Ginger was preceded in death by parents, Phillip K. Brown and Maggie Lee Holmes Brown, and brothers, W.B. Brown and Clyde Brown.
Throughout her life in Texas, she remained very connected to her Mississippi roots. She loved coming to her hometown to visit family and friends, and especially enjoyed going to her New Hebron class reunions.
Memorial services will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 512 Rockport Road, New Hebron, MS, May 18, 2019, at 1:00 p.m.
