Funeral services for Eldon Murrie Greer were held Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, with burial following in the Greer Cemetery in Ruth. Bro. Ray Bowlin officiated, with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Greer, 92, of Ruth, passed from this life Saturday, May 11, 2019, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, with his loving family by his side. He was born August 16, 1926, in Walthall County to Murrie and Allice Rushing Greer. He was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church, served his country in the US Army during World War II, was a factory worker at the Fernwood Box Factory and Jacobson Lawnmower plant, was a life-long farmer, and enjoyed fishing and hunting, picking his guitar, spending time in the woods and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 60 years, Dorothy Mildred Greer; son, Edwin Lee Greer; sister, Bergnee Phillips and Gertrude Dunaway, and brothers, Lester Greer, Jessie Lee Greer and Clinton Greer.
Survivors are his wife of 14 years, Alma Lambert Greer; children, Lindeal Greer (Joyce) of Bogue Chitto, Lisa Greer of Brookhaven and Douglas Entrican (Kim) of Bogalusa, Louisiana; sister, Remonia Greer Whittington; step-children, Rita Rutland, Sandra Rutland (Braxton) and Robyn Polk (Allen); grandchildren, Paul Greer (Kim), Robyn Greer Carberry (Joe), Brian Greer, Mike Greer (Susan), Steve Greer (Sarah), Randy Greer (Melissa), Erik Clark (Caitlin), Taylor Clark and Megan Clark; 24 great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Nicole Rutland, Tiffany Rutland, Devin Rutland, Kevin Rutland, Dale Rutland (Melanie), Pam Thrasher (Kenneth), Layle Ellis, Thomas Rutland (Crystal), Jason Lambert, Josh Lambert, Mike Polk, Keith Polk, Mary Beth and Larry; 27 step great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers were Erik Clark, Taylor Clark, Steve Greer, Mike Greer, Randy Greer, Brian Greer, Aiden Greer, Keagan Greer and Paul Greer.
