Charles Dempsey Mullins
Mr. Charles Dempsey Mullins, 91, of Monticello, passed away February 12, 2019, at his residence in Monticello. Dempsey was born July 11, 1927 in Tilton to William Vauchian and Eva Holmes Mullins.
Services were held Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Sauls Valley Baptist Church in Monticello, with graveside services following in Sauls Valley Cemetery. Rev. Douglas Lee and Rev. Dale Authement officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Dempsey retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation after 30 years of service. He loved spending time outdoors with his family and friends. He was the oldest lifetime member of Sauls Valley Baptist Church. He was a loving family man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ava Faye Mullins of Monticello; son, Charles Mullins and wife, Marilyn, of Monticello; daughter, Wanda Mullins of Asheville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Terri Mullins Johnson (Scott), Keith Mullins (Meghan) and Jessica Leaven (Tod); great-grandchildren, Matti B, Sophee, Rayce, Madison, Eleanor and Abigail, and sisters, Mildred Mullins Watts and Billie Mullins Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
