Herbert Wayne Cody

Herbert Wayne Cody, 90, of Monticello was called home from this life February 12, 2018, at his residence in Monticello. Wayne was born July 17, 1927, in Simpson County to William Marshall and Lula Grubbs Cody.
Services were held Friday, February 16, 2018, at Monticello Baptist Church with graveside services following in Monticello Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tim McCaffrey and Bro. Richard Green officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wayne served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He also served in the Merchant Marines. After retirement, he worked many years in security at Georgia-Pacific. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church. He loved to spend time outdoors raising cattle and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving Wayne are his son Randy Cody and wife, Kim, of Monticello; 4 grandchildren, Nathan Wayne Cody and wife Angie, Taylor Cody Ballard and husband Michael, Brooks Randall Cody and wife Terra and Katie Grace Cody; sisters Shirley Petkovsek of Natchez and Marilyn Simmons of Shivers; 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Katie Ruth Cody and brother, George Cody.
