Stephen Cory Holden Sr.

Stephen “Cory” Holden, 47, of Jayess, passed from this life December 13, 2017, at the University Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Services were held Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church, with graveside services following in Forest Grove Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Emmett Tolleson, Kyle Rodriguez, Mike Clark, Jason Lambert, Jeffery Bozeman, Mikell Robbins, Webster Bishop and Shane Smith.
Cory was born November 23, 1970 in Marrero, Louisiana. He was the son of Alvery William “Duts” and Pat Bishop Holden. He lived in Harvey, Louisiana, where he attended Homedale Elementary from the first to the fifth grade. In the summer of 1981, his family moved to Monticello (Sontag), where he attended McCullough Jr. High and graduated from Lawrence County High School. He studied at Co-Lin Community College. He was Journeyman Boilermaker at International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers. He was a Journeyman Boilermaker since January 1992 and a Certified Pressure Welder.
When he was 21, he married his high school sweetheart, Anita Kay Lambert, the daughter of Sherwood Currie and Linda Hux Lambert, on December 21, 1991, in Monticello.
Survivors include his wife, Anita; their four children, Stephen Cory Jr., Jacob Beron, Ashley Kay and Ella Kate; three brothers, Albert William Holden III of Sontag, Shane Jeffrey Holden of Sontag and Brian Patrick Holden of Summit; one half-sister, Venita Holden; mother-in-law, Linda Hux Lambert of Jayess and two brothers-in-law, Jason Lambert and Matthew Lambert, both of Jayess.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law.
