JL Beeson
JL Beeson, 83, of Sontag passed from this life on September 10, 2017, at his residence in Sontag. He was born on September 24, 1933 to Walter Loy and Mary Hemphill Beeson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Monticello. Graveside services followed at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tyler Bridge officiated. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
JL owned and operated Jay’s Restaurant in Monticello for 23 years. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his ability to cook eggs and pancakes. Playing with his grandchildren was one of his favorite things to do after retiring from the restaurant. He enjoyed working in his yard and doing things outside.
He is survived by his son, Ted Beeson of Lucedale; life partner, Carolyn Ballard of Sontag; daughter, Deneane (Ken) Lawrence of Sontag; son, Doyle Ballard of Sontag; grandchildren, Steven Beeson, Alan Beeson, Brian Beeson, Ted Beeson Jr., Dennis Beeson, Malarie Shumaker, Lane Bessonette, Cole Ballard, Ryan Ballard and Danielle Sills; a very special great-granddaughter, Kaylee Elizabeth Sills and great-grandsons Braxton Sills, Dillon Beeson and Blake Beeson; daughter-in-law Thelma Beeson and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Althea Procter, Vera Freeman and Geneva Waldrop; three brothers, Walter, Charles and Hayward Beeson; son, Terry Beeson and grandchild Shaun Beeson.
