William Ray Tynes
William Ray Tynes, 90, of Monticello, passed from this earthly life peacefully at his home on August 7, 2017, surrounded by his children. He was born April 21, 1927, in Tylertown, to James Leslie and Ether Victoria Bracey Tynes. He was married 66 years to Mary Lou Andrews Tynes. William Ray graduated from Whitworth College with an Associate’s Degree, and served in the United States Army as PFC Military Police in World War II. He retired after 34 years from Halliburton, but remained active throughout his retirement, enjoying his church, spending time with his family, and cutting his grass.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; his parents, Les and Ether Tynes; brothers, Ossee, Cecil, C.J., and Claude Tynes; sisters, Gertrude Tynes Craft, Vena Grace Tynes Bearden, and Christine Tynes Bennett; grandson William Ray Izard and granddaughter Kaitlyn Victoria Tullis.
He is survived by brothers, James, Dale, and Walt Tynes; sisters, Evelyn Tynes Dyer and Sally Tynes Brumfield; children, Judy Izard and husband Richard of Hazlehurst, Vicky Garrett and husband Richard of Jayess, Jeannie Tynes of Monticello and William Andrew Tynes, Sr. and wife Allison of Monticello; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Flores, Richard Dustin Izard, Allison Victoria Garrett, Richard Gentry Garrett, Janet Olivia Morris, Mary Helen Barber, Amanda Caroline Barber, William Andrew Tynes, Jr., Amber Leigh Swenson and Eddie Joseph Tynes; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, August 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. Reverend Carlos Dawson and Reverend LaDon Dawson will be presiding over the service. Music will be performed by Mrs. Cheryl Phillips and Mrs. Darlene Dawson. Graveside service will follow at Monticello Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Izard, Gentry Garrett, Drew Tynes, Mike Morris, Dug Davis, and Pete Boyd. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Swenson, Logan Flores, Gavin Morris, Keenan Morris, Chad Stuck, Wayne Renfroe, Wayne Powell, Jacob Rutland, and Divide Methodist Protestant Adult Sunday School class.
