Rev. Rickey Delane Adams
Rev. Rickey Delane Adams, 64, of Macon, passed from this life into eternal peace on May 6, 2017 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon.
Rev. Adams was born to L.C. and Laverne Shields Adams in Quitman County on August 9, 1952. The family moved to the Silver Creek community in Lawrence County in 1954. At the age of 14, Rev. Adams received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at the Monticello Pentecostal Church, and three years later he accepted his call into the Christian ministry. In 1970, he graduated from Lawrence County High School, and on July 3, 1971 he married Frances “Deloris” Smith. Rev. Adams first pastored in Ellisville and later pastored King’s Pentecostal Church in Wisner, Louisiana, for seventeen years, a period that he fondly remembered as “the best years of our life.” For the last nine years he served the church as a full time evangelist.
Rev. Adams was preceded in death by his parents and by an infant son, Bradley Wayne Adams.
Rev. Adams is survived by his wife, Frances Adams; two sons, Rickey Adams (Alana) and Chris Adams (Amy), all of Shuqualak. He is also survived by two sisters, Patsy Alexander (Bill) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Evelyn Westmoreland (Larry) of Gadsden, Alabama, and one brother, Wayne Adams (Libby) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Adams also leaves behind eight grandsons and four granddaughters as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.

Rev. Adams’s funeral service was held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Macon Pentecostal Church with Pastor Jimmy Guy, Bro. Bren Smith, Bro. Jonathan Alvear and Bro. Ricky Roberts officiating. Interment followed in Butler Cemetery near Shuqualak. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon was honored to be entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
