James Kelly Miller

Funeral services for James Kelly Miller were held Monday, April 10, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church in Silver Creek, with burial following in the Methodist Cemetery in Silver Creek. Bro. Trey Spangler and Bro. Mike Sutton officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Kelly Miller, of Silver Creek, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2017, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven. He was born July 14, 1942, in Silver Creek to John L. and Myrtle Miller.
Mr. Miller worked for what was the branch of First Bank in Silver Creek for over 20 years. He later served as comptroller for the Lawrence County Board of Supervisors for almost 20 years. He was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, graduating from Silver Creek High School in 1960. Mr. Miller later graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was a lifelong sports fan and particularly enjoyed supporting his alma mater. Mr. Miller was a member of Calvary Baptist Church most of his life, serving as chairman of the deacons, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and in many other capacities for decades.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John L. Jr., Wayne and Davis; and two sisters, Connie Lee and Carolyn Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy W. Miller of Silver Creek; son, Corey Miller of Brandon and several nieces and nephews.
