Dan Webb Dunaway
Dan Webb Dunaway, 80, was called home from this life on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven. Dan was born April 3, 1936 in Lawrence County to Oscar and Grace Alexander Dunaway.
Services were held Monday, February 27 at Providence Baptist Church with graveside services following in Providence Cemetery. Bro. Glen Alexander presided over the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dunaway served his country during the Korean War and was a firefighter while stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a Mason of Jayess Grand Lodge #501 and Life Time member of the American Legion and Disable American Veterans. His first job was working in the oilfield, then the construction industry. He was a retired boilermaker and a retired member of the Boilermaker Local 110 out of Hattiesburg. Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and caring for his two dogs, Cindy and Jack.
Surviving Dan are daughters, Dana Howell and husband Eric of Jayess; Tena Aull and husband Jason of Leland, North Carolina and Lynn McCullough and husband Flint of Jayess; one sister, Doris Alexander of Jayess and five granddaughters, Erin, Lauren, Ashlyn, Kaleigh and Macy. He also leaves behind a special friend, Mary Boyd of Enon Community.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 41 years, Nancy Morgan Dunaway; one brother, Leo Dunaway and one sister, Kathryn Williams.
