Evelyn Louise Newsome

Funeral services were held on July 23, 2026, at Silver Creek M.B. Church, New Hebron, for Evelyn Louise Newsome, 71, of Prentiss, who passed away on July 12 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg. Rev. Jessie Holloway officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She is the daughter of the late C. L. Longino and Minnie Mae Newsome. She was a member of Silver Creek M.B. Church, New Hebron.

Ms. Newsome was a retired laborer who loved talking and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Terrance Newsome, of Hattiesburg; Nicholas Newsome, of Oakvale; daughter, Monica Newsome, of Bassfield; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce Daniels, of Prentiss; sisters, Peggy Joseph, Kathy Fortenberry, and Mamie Nelson, all of Prentiss; Phyllis Willams, of Mendenhall; and many other relatives and friends.
