Wadie W. Wilson
Wadie W. Wilson, 97, of Monticello, passed away on Nov. 27, 2025, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello. She was born on Sept. 2, 1928, in Monticello.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Carmel Baptist Church at 1157 Carmel New Hope Road, Monticello. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Lee Mathis will officiate. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Wadie was one of the sweetest ladies that you could ever meet. She was devoted to her family and loved them dearly. She was a faithful member of Carmel Baptist Church and was a very devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Mrs. Wilson liked to quilt, enjoyed flowers, and gardening. She always wanted to do something to help someone else. She was active in the Women’s Auxiliary and other social groups.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Garvin Raines and Isaac Newton Wilson; father, John Henry Wilson; mother, Ada Hedgepeth Wilson; brothers, Thomas Wilson, Herbert Wilson, Dudley Wilson and Buster Wilson; sisters, Polly Reid King, Maybelle Beam, and Eliza Kay Courson; and grandson, Milton Raines Jr.
Survivors include her stepson, Milton Raines, of Vancleave; sister, Mary Wilson McNeese, of Monticello; and granddaughter, Alison Manley.
