Thomas Eugene Evans

A celebration of life will be held for Thomas Eugene “Tommy” Evans at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Shiloh Baptist Church. He will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Thomas Eugene “Tommy” Evans, 84, of Sontag, passed away on Aug. 23 at his residence. He was born in Lake Village, Ark., on Sept. 6, 1940, to the late Rev. Benton Evans and Mina Hagan Evans.

Tommy was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he was involved in Men’s Ministry and Property & Grounds. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, James Larkin Evans; sister, Kathy Boyd; and sister-in-law, Lynda Evans.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Janice Evans; children, Tommy “Spook” Evans (Laura) and Todd Evans (Brandi); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brothers, George Benton Evans, Robert “Bob” Evans (Jane), and Joseph L. “Joe” Evans (Gina).

The family would like to thank the staff at Arden Home Health & Hospice for their compassion and care.
