Cecile “Nanny” Smith
Cecile “Nanny” Smith, 87, of Monticello, passed away Aug. 31, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Brookhaven.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 4 at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello. Jeff Davis officiated. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
In her long and productive life, Cecile played a variety of roles. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. She worked as a hostess at Wilson Funeral Home. Her most beloved part was that of “Nanny,” where she provided Justin and Jeremy Mullins with the utmost tenderness and devotion. Her love will live on in these two sons, as well as her grandson, Ripken Mullins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Smith; father, Larce Alton Kyzar; mother, Maggie Marie Ballard Kyzar; brothers, Jimmy Dale Kyzar and Larce Kyzar; and sisters, Olean Lacosta and Linda Faye Clark.
Survivors include her sons, Justin Mullins, of Monticello, and Jeremy Mullins; grandchild, Ripken Mullins; and sisters, Wanza Smith, Yvonne Davis, Maxine Russell.
Pallbearers were Billy Mullins, Emmett Davis, Randall Mullins, Sterling Allen, Chris Kyzer, and Wayne Smithie.
