John Wesley Lambert
John Wesley Lambert, 90, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Jayess. He was born July 28, 1927 in Jayess to James Wesley and Nannie (Magee) Lambert. John enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country. He later met the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Wallace, whom he married on August 24, 1947. John received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Mississippi State. John and Bobbie had two children, Cheryl Sue (Lambert) Rodgers and John Alan Lambert. John worked for Graybar Electrical Supply in Baton Rouge, Louisiana until 1986, when he retired as Branch Manager. Retirement took him back to Jayess, where he became a cattleman. John loved taking care of his cows, hunting and “piddling” around the house. He worked from dusk to dawn, enjoying every step he took.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Sue Rodgers; sisters, Ruth Tauchen, Lois Lewis and Wessie Mae Calhoun and brothers, James Obed, Watson Lambert and Maxie Lambert.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bobbie Jean (Wallace) Lambert; a son and daughter-in-law, John Alan and Ginger Lambert of Pasadena, Texas; sisters, Bonnie Drummond and Edwina Cash; grandchildren, John Paul and Katy Lambert of Austin, Texas, Eric Alan and Kimmy Lambert of Houston, Texas, Amanda Jean Rodgers of Silsbee, Texas and Brittany Hein of Pasadena and great-grandchildren, Luisa Anne Lambert and John (Jack) Emerson Lambert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and services were held at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello on August 21, 2017. Interment was at Divide Methodist Protestant Church.
