Veterans wreath sponsorship blitz set for Oct. 25
The Abner W. Cooper Memorial Post 27 of the American Legion has participated in the Wreaths Across America for several years, and many Lawrence Countians have done so as well. The post has been somewhat dormant recently in promoting Wreaths Across America, but that changes this year.
In partnership with the Lawrence County High School JROTC Cougar Battalion, there will be a Wreaths Across America sponsorship blitz from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 25 , at Ramey’s Marketplace in Monticello. During that time, you can either sponsor a wreath(s) for placement on a veteran’s grave just before Christmas or receive the wreath(s) for the grave of a veteran within your own family.
There are those who have made wreath placement a noteworthy Christmas tradition in honoring their family’s military legacy. Some churches have received wreaths for veterans’ graves within their own cemetery. Join the JROTC Cougar Battalion and the post this Saturday in the Wreaths Across America effort, or you can go online at wreaths https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/MS0050P.
