Life of Christ set for Friday

The 10th annual Life of Christ presentation is planned for 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at the Atwood Water Park in Monticello. The drive-thru event, sponsored by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and local churches, will feature scenes from the life of Christ, from the journey to Bethlehem through the Resurrection.
This annual tradition brings together families, different denominations, and people from across the county to celebrate the true reason for the Christmas season. Over the years, the presentation has varied, with different churches participating, but the message remains the same.
Local Gideons now come each year to pass out scriptures to those who drive through and offer prayer or spiritual counseling to anyone in need. Hot chocolate is available for your enjoyment as you ride through the park.
A CD provided at the beginning of the tour tells the Gospel story and plays songs of the season. Generous donations have allowed for the purchase of lighted decorations that add to the experience and help light the park before the night of the event.
What began as a ministry 10 years ago has become a tradition for families around the surrounding area, and everyone is invited come enjoy the event this year and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
