Dec. 1
Santa will lead a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Lawrence County Courthouse at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 1.
Dec. 2
The 10th Annual “The Life of Christ Presentation” will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at Atwood Water Park, 1362 East Broad Street, Monticello. This drive-thru presentation features scenes from the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ. Admission is free.
Dec. 3
The New Hebron Christmas Parade will be held at 1 p.m., Dec. 3.
Longino House Christmas will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3. Tours, refreshments, and photo opportunity (with your own camera) in the Carriage Barn with Santa will be until 3:30 p.m. The event is free. Donations for the continued preservation of the Longino House are appreciated.
The Monticello Christmas Parade will be held at 5 p.m., Dec. 3.
Monticello United Methodist Church will host “Songs of Christmas” at 6 p.m., Dec. 3 and is looking for nativities, cookies, and helpers for the event. There is a sign-up sheet in the fellowship hall.
The Refuge’s ninth annual Moonlight and Mistletoe Christmas Tree Lighting will be held at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 2, at the corner of Highway 44 and Jayess Road. There will be a Christmas concert, candlelight service, ornament painting, photo booth, and more. For more information, call 601-441-1567.
Dec. 4
The Tilton United Methodist Church Christmas in the Nature Trail will open on Sunday, Dec. 4, for nature walks from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The trail will be open every Sunday after that at the same time. On Dec. 18 to Dec. 25 the trail will be open nightly from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Dec. 9
Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District is having its annual Tree Sale and is now taking pre-orders for ornamental seedlings in various species The deadline to order trees is Friday, Dec. 9. Trees will arrive in February 2023. For more information, contact Lawrence County Soil and Water District at 601-587-0885, extension 3, and ask for Smythe Dedeaux.
Dec. 17
The Oma Christmas Parade will begin at 2 p.m., Dec. 17, with the theme of “The First Christmas Gift – Love.” There will be food, fund, and family. ATVs, side-by-sides, horses, etc. are welcome. For more information, call Gloria Bass at 601-695-0118 or 601-587-2085.

Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission, 779 China Grove Rd., Jayess, serves USDA non-perishable food items from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first and second Saturday of each month. Application must be completed for eligibility to receive said food.
Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission, 779 China Grove Rd., Jayess, Clothes Closet is open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first and second Saturday of each month. All sizes of clothing, shoes, toys, household items at very low prices. Come shop for many unique items, too.
