Jayess CrossRoad Cruisers presents its Second Annual Open Car Show from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, too benefit The Refuge at 584 Woody Road, Jayess. Sept. 27
Ole Brook Wind Symphony is starting rehearsals for the fall season from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Alexander Junior High band hall in Brookhaven. The band will continue to rehearse every Tuesday night until a concert in December (TBA). The band plays a variety of music, including traditional, popular, and jazz. Anyone who plays a wind instrument or percussion is invited to join the group.
Oct. 2
Monticello United Methodist Church will have a Blessing of the Animals service at 3 p.m., Oct. 2. Anyone who wishes to have their pet or any special animal blessed is invited to attend with their animal.
Oct. 9
New Hope Baptist Church will have Homecoming at 10 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 9. Former pastor Rev. Mike Staton will be the speaker. There will be lots of singing and good eating. Dinner on the Grounds will be in the gym. Former members and friends are invited to join on this happy occasion. Cemetery donations may be sent to New Hope Baptist Church, 618 Carmel New Hope Road, Monticello, MS 39654.
Oct. 22
Lawrence County Miniature Horse Association show dates are Oct. 22 and Nov. 12. All shows start at 11 a.m. and are held at the James E. Givens Building near the Sheriff’s Department. For more information, contact Dustie Barnett at 601-754-4939.

Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission, 779 China Grove Rd., Jayess, serves USDA non-perishable food items from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first and second Saturday of each month. Application must be completed for eligibility to receive said food.
Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission, 779 China Grove Rd., Jayess, Clothes Closet is open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first and second Saturday of each month. All sizes of clothing, shoes, toys, household items at very low prices. Come shop for many unique items, too.
