Kids Hub to recognize National Child Abuse Awareness Month with pinwheel gardens
People across the country honor National Child Abuse Awareness Month in April and this year, Kids Hub Child Advocacy Center invites the community to get involved. Kids Hub will host a series of educational activities throughout the month to raise awareness about the prevalence and prevention of child abuse and Kids Hub’s work to protect children.
The festivities will begin April 1 with pinwheel gardens going up at the county courthouses for each of the counties Kids Hub currently serves, which includes Covington, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Marion, Lamar, Forrest, and Perry.
With its cheerful appearance and playful nature, the pinwheel became the national symbol for child abuse prevention in 2008. Prevent Child Abuse America chose the pinwheel as a reminder of the happy childhoods wanted for all children. The pinwheels will stay up all month.
