Mississippi State University Extension Service will offer an online program via Zoom on from noon until 1 p.m. July 8 on “Lawn Care through the Summer,” presented by Lamar County Extension Agent II Ross Overstreet. Attendees will learn how to keep their yard as healthy as possible during their lawn’s most stressful time of the year. July 9
An online baked goods auction to benefit a toy drive for Blair E, Batson Hospital for Children will begin at 5:30 p.m. July 9 on the Facebook page “Christmas in July toy drive.” Cakes will be dropped off at Bethel Baptist Church starting at noon July 8. If anyone would like to help or donate, please call 601-695-2688.
July 12-14
China Lee Missionary Baptist Church will hold a three-night revival, Monday, July 12 through Wednesday, July 14. The speaker will be Rev. Darrel Phoenix, Enlighten Fellowship Church, Ponchatoula, La. Service will begin nightly at 7 p.m.
July 18-21
Antioch Baptist Church will hold its yearly revival July 18-21. Rev. Richard Green will bring the messages. The service July 18 will be at 11 a.m., with no night service. Services will be at 7 p.m. nightly Monday through Wednesday. The church is located at 22 E. Lincoln Rd., Monticello.

Mississippi State University Extension Service will offer an online program via Zoom from noon until 1 p.m. July 22 on “Gardening with Succulents,” presented by Hancock County Extension Agent Dr. Christian Stephenson. This presentation will include discussion of the characteristics of succulent plants, how to include them in home landscape, as well as a discussion of some common and beautiful succulent plants. This session discusses ways to make a permanent change in coping with stress and how to use meditation to help when stress is knocking at your door. Aug. 9
The registration deadline for Monticello soccer, flag football, and tackle football is Aug. 9. Registration is online only for players and coaches. There is a required equipment waiver on each registration that indicates what safety equipment players will be responsible for providing. Parents are asked to read and sign the waiver. Fees are as follows: soccer, ages 3-14 (ages subject to change), $60; flag football, ages 5-8, $60; and tackle football, ages 9-12 and not in 7th grade, $75. Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission, 779 China Grove Rd., Jayess, serves USDA non-perishable food items from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first and second Saturday of each month. Application must be completed for eligibility to receive said food.
Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission, 779 China Grove Rd., Jayess, Clothes Closet is open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first and second Saturday of each month. All sizes of clothing, shoes, toys, household items at very low prices. Come shop for many unique items, too.
