Lady Cougars open with hoops victory, boys’ game scratched
The Lawrence County High Lady Cougars opened their 2020-21 basketball season on a high note last week, hammering the Collins Lady Tigers 46-26 in a Tuesday-night contest at LCHS.
All 14 Lady Cougars who dressed got quality playing time, as Lawrence County was in control from the outset. For Coach Vicki Rutland’s girls, dominated by underclassmen, it was not only a win, but the game also served as a part of their pre-season practice. The Lady Cougars lost two weeks of practice time to a quarantine situation brought on by COVID-19.
