Face mask giveaway August 1

Lawrence County residents are encouraged to wear face masks to combat COVID-19, and emergency workers are set to give away masks in an effort to help make that happen.
According to Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Tony Norwood, masks will be given away at eight county locations from 9 a.m. until noon (or until supplies are gone) Saturday, August 1.
Norwood said the Lawrence County Emergency Management Association and Lawrence County Fire Services have teamed up for the event.
This event will be similar to one held a couple of months ago around the county. The difference this time is that masks will be washable instead of disposable.
Distribution will be limited to four masks per household, and recipients must live in Lawrence County.
Distribution points include the Sontag Fire Department for Wanilla and Sontag areas; Oakvale Fire Department for the Arm and Oakvale areas; the James E. Givens building and the county fairgrounds for Monticello; Topeka Station of the District 3 Fire Department; and North Pleasant Hill, Oma, New Hebron, and Silver Creek fire departments.
