Drive-in movie night at the Atwood Water Park this Friday, May 15
Movie Night – The Town of Monticello is hosting a drive-in movie night at the Atwood Water Park this Friday, offering citizens something to do to break the monotony of quarantine conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The Greatest Showman,” starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, Keala Settle, and Michelle Williams tells the story of P.T. Barnum and his “Greatest Show on Earth.” Vehicles will be allowed into park at 7:30 p.m., with larger vehicles being placed toward the back. There will be a sound system in place, and participants will also be able to tune in for sound on their radios. The system will be powered by generators because the power in the park is still out from February flooding. Portable toilets will be available, if needed. If it rains, the event will be postponed until June 5. Workers for the town were busy yesterday moving mounds of sand deposited in the park during the flooding. The park is being cleaned up for Friday’s movie and so work can begin soon to restore the electrical system in the park, allowing restrooms, cabins, and camping to reopen.
