    Oma Christmas Parade

    All day

    The Oma Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 15. The theme is All I Want for Christmas. Line up will be at Fair Hill Church. The parade will proceed onto Monticello Road to Hwy 27 Loop and back to Oma Volunteer Fire Station. Grand Marshal is Willie Catchings and Honorary Grand Marshal is Lillie Johnson.     Oak Grove M.B. "Christmas at the Grove"

    4:00 pm-8:00 pm

    Oak Grove M.B. Church of Monticello will host its first annual “Christmas at the Grove” Celebration, Saturday, December 15, at 4 p.m. The event will begin with a Christmas Parade on Oak Grove Road at 4 p.m., followed by a Christmas program of comical skits and joyous musical performances beginning at 5 p.m. at Oak Grove M.B. Church. Dinner will be served immediately following the program.

    "Four the King" at Monticello UMC

    10:30 am-1:00 pm

    The group “Four the King” will perform Sunday, December 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Monticello United Methodist Church. A love offering will be received and a covered dish lunch will follow the service.

    Minister Antonio Johnson Installation Service

    3:00 pm-6:00 pm

    Owens Chapel Baptist Church, located at 1223 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Columbia, will hold the Installation of Minister Antonio Johnson as its new pastor, Sunday, December 16, at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

    The Nelons in Concert

    6:00 pm-8:00 pm

    The Nelons will be in concert Sunday, December 16, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church Brookhaven. The church is located at 200 E. Monticello Street. No ticket is required. A love offering will be received. A Dessert Fellowship will follow the concert. For more information, call 601-833-5118.

    Antioch Baptist Youth Flea Market

    10:00 am-3:00 pm

    Due to poor weather conditions on December 8, the Antioch Baptist Church “Youth Flea Market” will be open again, Thursday, December 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., pending fair weather conditions. The church is located at 22 East Lincoln Road. There will be lots of unique homemade items, baked goods, and much more.

    Lawrence County Livestock Show Entry Deadline

    The Lawrence County Fall Livestock Show (80% payback jackpot show) is set to be held Friday, December 28 – Saturday, December 29. The judge is Michael Buckley from Collins.
    Friday, December 28, the order of show will be as follows: 1) Tot Swine Showmanship (under 8 no entry fee), 2) Market Swine Showmanship, 3) Market Swine Show, 4) Tot Goat Showmanship (under 8 no entry fee), 5) Goat Showmanship, 6) Commercial Goat Doe Show, 7) Market Goat Show, 8) Tot Lamb Showmanship (under 8 no entry fee), 9) Lamb Showmanship, 10) Market Lamb Show. Swine is very limited and on a first come first serve basis. The association will again have the Commercial Meat Goat Doe Show, but they will have only ONE type of goat showmanship class. Check in time on Friday will be 6:00 p.m., with the show beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m. They encourage you to pre-enter.
    Saturday morning, December 29, the order of show will be as follows: 1) Tot Dairy Cattle Showmanship (under 8 no entry fee), 2) Dairy Cattle Showmanship, 3) Commercial Dairy Heifer Show, 4) Dairy Cattle Show, 5) Tot Beef Showmanship (under 8 no entry fee), 6) Beef Showmanship, 7) Commercial Heifer Show, 8) Market Steer Show, 9) Beef Breeding Shows. Breeds fewer than 5 will be A.O.B. Deadline for check in on Saturday, will be 8:00 a.m. with the show beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m.
    The association encourages you to pre-enter. Please indicate on your entry form if you wish to participate in showmanship and include your correct birthday and entry fee. Please note that tie and pen spaces will be assigned based upon receipt of paid entry. Please make sure your checks for your entry fees are enclosed to insure tie and pen space.
    This is an 80% payback jackpot show, and again they will award prizes in classes that have three or more exhibitors.
    The entry deadline is December 21. Entry fees are $15 per head and $5.00 for showmanship per class PAID IN ADVANCE. Entries should be made on the enclosed entry form (make copies as needed and directions are enclosed). No faxed entries will be accepted. Entries received without payment will be considered late and will be subject to the $20 per animal late entry fee after December 21. No exceptions. Please work with the association on getting your entry fees in by the deadline, as this greatly reduces confusion in preparing the show program, keeps the show on schedule, and reduces stress on the staff and program volunteers.
    Mail your entries to: Lawrence County Livestock Show Association, 375 Robbins Road, Jayess, MS 39641. Checks should be made payable to the Lawrence County Livestock Show Association OR LCLSA. NO FAXED ENTRIES ACCEPTED.
