    Brookhaven Regional Arts Guild January Art Show

    BRAG (Brookhaven Regional Arts Guild) will be hosting local Brookhaven artists Vicki Land and her daughter Brandy Johnson for their January Art Show. The show will run January 4 through January 30 at the Lincoln County Public Library in Brookhaven. Vicki A. Land is a native Brookhavenite. She received her B.A. in art education and B.F.A. in fine arts from Louisiana Tech University. She has taught in the Louisiana and Mississippi school systems and established the four levels of art at Brookhaven High School. She has also served as an adjudicator for M.S.A. She has exhibited her work at Masur Museum, Co-Lin Community College and the Lincoln County Library. She has studied under various potters and artists, most influential including internationally famous watercolorist Fealing Lin. She is accomplished in watercolor, oils, pen and ink and pottery. Her studio is located on Hog Chain Road in Brookhaven. Brandy Land Johnson received a B.A. in Interior Design from Mississippi College in 1994. She has studied under Mississippi watercolorist Wyatt Waters and international watercolorist Fealing Lin. She later obtained her teaching license and has taught numerous classes in all art genres. She currently teaches high school art at Brookhaven Academy and is producing watercolor portraits. Her studio is on her home property in Brookhaven.

    Brookhaven Regional Arts Guild Reception and Meeting

    4:30 pm-7:30 pm

    A reception for Brookhaven Regional Arts Guild (BRAG) January Art Show artists Vicki Land and Brandy Johnson will be held Thursday, January 18, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Following the reception, BRAG will have their first meeting of the year to discuss the upcoming year.

    ABATE Meeting

    2:00 pm-4:00 pm

    The Southwest Chapter of ABATE will have its monthly meeting at Jeffrey’s Cycle Supply at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 21. Jeffrey’s is located 8 miles south of Hwy. 84 on E. Lincoln Road, Brookhaven, on the right. They have raffle tickets available for the Blackout 300 Rifle. They will be setting up our Calendar of Events for 2018. Come and bring a friend.     Monticello Pentecostal Sontag Services

    2:00 pm-4:00 pm

    Monticello Pentecostal Church will resume their Sunday services at Uncle Jim Douglas Community Center in Sontag, beginning January 21. Service will begin at 2 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month. All are invited to join the time of worship and hear God’s Word expounded.

    St. Paul M.B. Church Friends and Family Day

    6:00 pm-9:00 pm

    St. Paul M.B. Church of Silver Creek will have their Annual Friends and Family Day, Sunday, January 21, beginning at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Reverend La Baron Hedgemon of Freedom Rock Christian Fellowship Church in Meridian.
