    VFW Post Flea Market Sale

    The VFW Post will be having a Flea Market Sale, Saturday, May 5, at 21 VFW Way, Monticello. Anyone who wants to participate should contact Alvin Young at 601-754-4656. They ask only for a donation of the profits from your booth to support the VFW Post. Food, clothing and other items are welcome.

    Divide M.P. Church "Stepping to Seattle" 5K Run/Walk and 1/2 Mile Fun Run and Balloon Release for Carter Smith

    As part of their annual Springfest, Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church, located at 8 Divide Road, 11 miles south of Monticello, will hold two events benefitting Carter Smith, son of Nick and Michelle Smith of Monticello. Carter was born with a craniofacial condition known as Treacher Collins Syndrome and will undergo major surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington, in June. Both events will be held Saturday, May 5. The first is a 5K Run/Walk and 1/2 Mile Fun Run, with registration beginning at 6 a.m., the 5K at 7 a.m. and the Fun Run at 7:45 a.m. Pre-registration is $25 per person for the 5K and $15 per person for the Fun Run. Race morning registration is available for an additional cost. Prizes will be awarded. Registration is available online by following the Springfest and 5K event links on the Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church Facebook page, or by visiting and clicking on Springfest under the upcoming events tab. Balloons will also be sold at Springfest from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for a balloon release at the end of the day. All proceeds from balloon sales will benefit Carter.     Divide M.P. Church Springfest

    Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church, located at 8 Divide Road, 11 miles south of Monticello, will hold their annual Springfest, Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. A full day of family fun is planned, including vendor booths, children’s activities, delicious food including famous Calhoun Burgers and Chicken on a Stick, a bake sale, an auction, door prizes and a blood drive. Entertainment will be brought by the LCHS Jazz Band, the Divide Youth Praise Band and more! Arts and crafts and other vendors are still needed! As part of their annual Springfest, Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church, located at 8 Divide Road, 11 miles south of Monticello, will hold their 1st Springfest Classic Car Show Cruise-In from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Bring your classic car or truck and enjoy the fun and fellowship!     ABATE Poker Run

    The Southwest Chapter of ABATE will hold a Poker Run for Camp Jabber Jaws, Saturday, May 19. They will begin at the Crossroads Exxon, at the intersection of Highways 84 and 51, south of Brookhaven. They will end at the “Trail of Honor” at Jackson Harley Davidson.
