  • 6:30 pm-9:00 pm

    Monticello Pentecostal Church will hold an auction Friday night, October 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Many nice and useful items will be for sale. Hot dogs, chili dogs, nachos, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Bro. Curtis Lambert, license number 1332, will be the auctioneer. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the building fund for the new church. The church is located at 32 Rock Hill Road.

    The Southwest Chapter of ABATE will have its 5th Annual Unity Trace Run to raise funds for MSU’s Camp Jabber Jaws Saturday, October 14. They will meet at Hudgeys of Brookhaven at 9 a.m. and leave at 10:30 a.m. This will be a motorcycle social and fundraiser ending at Ratliff Ferry on the Natchez Trace. They plan on spending the night. They ask for a donation of $15, or whatever you can afford. Proceeds will be donated in Allie Barkley’s name. The public is invited to attend.     The Southwest Chapter of ABATE will have its monthly meeting at Jeffrey’s Cycle Supply Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m. Jeffrey’s is located 8 miles south of Hwy 84 on East Lincoln Road in Brookhaven. Raffle tickets are available for the Budweiser Grill and Blackout 300 Rifle. They will hold nominations for Chapter Officers. Come and bring a friend. Meetings are open to the public.     A meeting will be held Wednesday, October 25, at 1p.m. at Booker Nutrition Community Garden in the Woodard Family Nest, located at 157 Isaac Newsome Road north of New Hebron in the Shivers community. This will be a Community Garden Field Day. The speaker will be Esmerelda Dickson, State Statistician, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Statistics Service Delta Region, Mississippi Field Office, ASDA 2017 Census of Agriculture. The focus will be the 2017 Census of Agriculture, the class and types of families farming: Operator, Producer, Land Owner, Lease and others. For information, call Booker T.     The Stop Hunger Now campaign, now named Rise Against Hunger, will be packing meals at the National Guard Armory Saturday, October 28.

    There will be a Haunted Trail on Robbins Road Saturday, October 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m. To get to the trail, take Hwy 27 South to Divide Road and follow signs to the trail on Robbins Road. A hayride will take you through the trail. Cost is $5 per person. Adult supervision is recommended for children under 12.
