Halloween events set

A variety of activities are planned around Lawrence County for Halloween.

The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will hold a trunk-or-Treat event from 5 to 7 p.m., Oct. 31. Broad Street from the Lawerence County Courthouse to the Lawrence County Civic Center will be closed to traffic and businesses and individuals will have treats for children. There will also be free hotdogs. Participants are asked to enter the event at the fire truck on the Civic Center end of town. There, they will receive a ticket for a hotdog, proceed along the street, turn at the other end, and make their way back to the beginning. There will be plenty of candy and fun for everyone.

Aldermen have set Monticello trick or treating hours from 5:30 to 7 p.m. that night as well. Homeowners who intend to participate will have their lights on.

New Hebron will also hold trick or treating and a trunk-or-treat event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 31. Homes participating in trick or treating will turn their porch lights on.

The trunk-or-treat will be held on Main Street. Participants are asked to turn their trunks facing the sidewalk when they set up in their spots.
