K. C. Young Jr.

Funeral services were held Sept. 16, 2023, at North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, New Hebron, for K.C. Young Jr., 70, who died Sept. 8 in Mobile, Ala. Rev. Moses Johnson, pastor, officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Young was born in New Hebron to the late K. C. Young Sr. and Gennett Powell. He joined North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age and attended school in New Hebron. He served 25 years in the National Guard and retired at the rank of E7 and became a certified electrician.
Mr. Young was formerly married to Alice Walker and to this union, four children were born, Shauntah Young, Keith Young, Nicholas Young, and Chris Young. He later began attending Goodwater Methodist Church with his fiancée, Jan Floyd, when he was not attending his home church. He enjoyed fishing, sitting on the porch, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shauntah Young; and sisters, Teresa Young, Loretta Young, and Juanita Davis.
He is survived by his fiancée, Jan Floyd, of Mt. Olive; sons, Keith (Sheka) Young, Nicholas (Tasha) Young, and Chris (Desiree) Young; seven grandchildren; sisters, Annie Coleman, of Mishawaka, Ind.; Ann Duncan, of Rockford, Ill.; Bernice (Stan) Pittman, of Pinola; Jeraldine Young, of Raymond; Mallie (Norris) McCullum, of Yazoo City; Ivy Young, of Jackson; and many other relatives and friends.
