Vordia Evans

Funeral services were held Aug. 16, 2023, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Oakvale, for Vordia Evans, 83, who passed away Aug. 11 at her residence. Rev. A. Norwood officiated, with interment following in Crossover Cemetery, Oakvale. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She is the daughter of the late James Robertson and Aradia Tyrone. She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher, secretary, choir, Sunday school teacher, and assistant superintendent of Sunday school.
Mrs. Evans was a retired educator who enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter, Tanya Evans, of Hattiesburg; one granddaughter; brother, Malone Davis, of Silver Creek; sisters, Amelia Moore, of Atta Loma, Calif.; Jacqueline Haynes-Sims, of Hattiesburg; and many other relatives and friends.
