Sylvia Mae Deare Givens

Sylvia Mae Deare Givens, 81, of Monticello, passed away Dec. 21, 2022, at her residence in Monticello. Sylvia was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Lawrence County Mississippi to Bonnie Lee and Hautie Davis Deare.
A funeral service was held Dec. 23 at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello, with graveside service following at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. John Grimes and Bro. Michael Smith officiated, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She retired from Kellwood Manufacturing as a seamstress. Sylvia loved to crochet and raise flowers in her yard. She loved to share God with everyone and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther Thomas (L.T.) Givens; son, Thomas M. (Buddy) Givens; three brothers; and two sisters.
Sylvia is survived by daughters, Jeane Foerste (Jim), Donna Bailey (Kenneth), Debbie Givens Brister, and Stacey Brooks (Dennis); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
