Christmas musical celebration set for Dec. 12

Christmas Reflections, an annual musical celebration of the Christmas season by the Newhebron Methodist Women, will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12, at Newhebron Methodist Church.
This year’s musical guest is the Mississippi School of the Arts award-winning Chorale. This talented group has performed six times at Carnegie Hall and once at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center over the past 17 years. The chorale has performed with both the Meridian and Mississippi Symphony Orchestras and has received multiple superior awards at state choral festivals.
Choral members include many repeat finalists at state and regional National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions, scholarship recipients to prestigious collegiate programs, and counts two American Idol finalists, The Voice finalist, a cast member of The Lion King on Broadway, and a Miss Mississippi among their alumni.
The group is under the direction of Patton Rice, who is in his 18th year as director of vocal music at MSA. Rice has distinguished himself as a baritone and bass soloist in opera, concert, and musical theater from Hawaii to Austria and has adjudicated solo, choral and regional choir and show choir festivals at district and state levels.
All are welcome to attend this year’s program and get into the spirit of Christmas.
