Rena Mae (Tootsie) Barnett Bullock
Rena Mae (Tootsie) Barnett Bullock, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Nov. 20, 2022. She was truly a gift from God. She was a loving, humble, compassionate, understanding, family-oriented, and devoted Christian woman. She was one of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet. She loved God and cared deeply for her family and friends; always ready to offer help to anyone that needed it. She was an active member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church that she loved dearly. She was also a retired factory worker for 20-plus years.
Tootsie was preceded in the death by her parents, Talmage and Jewel Barnett; siblings, Dorothy Davis, Calvin D. (Peanut) Barnett, Cabe E. (Sonny) Barnett, and Mary Nell Jenkins; granddaughter, Vicki Lynette Ward; and great-granddaughter, Anna KateLynn Powell.
Tootsie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Emmitt Bullock; daughters, Lejeana Roberts (Rusty) and Gajuena Ward (Jack); three bonus sons, Eddie Cliburn (Anita), Malcolm Cliburn (Kerrie), and Tommy Cliburn; grandchildren, Katie Roberts Neal (Anthony), Heather Ward Powell (Zack), Dawn Roberts Goleman (Brad), Dusty Roberts (Kayla), and Kortney Ward; great-grandchildren, Blake Roberts (Maidyn), Lexi Alexander, Logan Alexander, John Carter Neal, Carson Neal, Maeley Powell, Gunner Ward, Kade Roberts, Marley Goleman, Ava Neal, Myles Goleman, Karli Powell, Mason Goleman, Julian Case, and Conner Brewer; and one great-great-granddaughter due in February, Atley Roberts; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Tootsie taught her family to always love God above anything else, and she showed us what true love is.
A special thank you goes out to her hospice nurse, Heather Riley, and to her sitters, Pam Maye, Carolyn Magee, and Dorothy Buckley, that devoted their time to care for Tootsie in her time of need. Acknowledging a moment’s notice to Adam Waldon.
Her greatest love besides God was her family, all are so proud to have been able to call her wife, mama, and mawmaw. Never to be forgotten and forever in our hearts.
A funeral service was held Nov. 25 at Crooked Creek Baptist Church, with graveside service following at the family cemetery on Benson Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crooked Creek Baptist Church in memory of Tootsie.
