Minnie Mae Davis

Funeral services were held Aug. 27, 2022, at Fair Hill Baptist Church, Oma, for Minnie Mae Davis, 87, who died Aug. 21 at her residence. Rev. Glen Smith, pastor, officiated, with interment following at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Oma. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis was born to the late Alton and Jemima Newell in Lawrence County. She was the youngest of six children. She was married to the late Ira Vernell Davis Sr. and to this union, 10 children were born.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Fair Hill Baptist Church, where she served on the mothers board. She was a blessed virtuous woman of God who was devoted to her family.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Davis and Willie (Dollina) Davis; two sons, Willie A. Davis and Bobby J. Davis; two daughters-in-law, Sheree Davis and Geneva Davis; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five siblings, Alton Newell Jr., Cleavy Newell, Sylvester Newell, Hattie B. Newsome, and Febbie Mitchell.
She is survived by five sons, Albert. L. Davis, Ira V. Davis Jr., (Stephanie), and Felix (Taroniah), all of Sontag; Kenneth (Henrene) Davis, of Byram; and Luther W. Davis, of Blytheville, Ark.; daughter, Lucy D. Smith, of Sontag; three daughters-in-law, Daisy Davis, Mary (Anthony) Brown, and Mary Davis; 33 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
